The Bremer County Courthouse renovation project is moving forward but with a scaled-down plan in order to control costs.

When the Bremer County Board of Supervisors reviewed the plan provided by Miron Construction, the construction management firm they had picked for the project, and the plans from ISG, the Waterloo-based architecture firm designing the expansion project, they were surprised by the $9.2 million price tag.

Corey Cerwinske, the board chair, told Waverly Newspapers that figure was significantly higher than the previous cost of approximately $7 million the board had received.
